While I was in Vegas...

I really was working, really! I sold subscriptions and shirts and answered questions and stuff. I also got away from the Scoot! booth long enough to actually talk scooter with scooter people. One of whom was the very nice and generous-with-his time Hank Norush who took the Build-Off credo to heart with his amazing custom Vespa. He took some time from his windy, Saturday and shared how his bike came together.

Sorry for the wind noise, but it became quite blustery out there just as some rain drops began to fall...

Can't Strip My Lambretta in the Kitchen...

I saw this video from The Animal Jack Band (who are Scoot! MySpace friends). Reminds me of when Jon refurbished my VBB in my dining room. My landlord came in to check something one day and I had to explain that it was all new & there was not gas or oil in it. Somehow, she didn't kick me out.

Lady GaGa Goes for Vespa

Doesn't say much for the classiness of the Vespa brand, but Lady Gaga's video for "Eh, Eh..." features a Vespa.

San Jose & San Francisco, CA scooterists for video

I got en email today from someone making a local music video that wants to have scooter riders in it. Sounds like they may want vintage, but not sure.
I'm trying to figure out if I know any scooterists under 35. This ain't 1987 anymore!

I'm a music video Director and I'm shooting a video this month featuring a Vespa which is owned by the lead singer Christian Vela. We're going to be shooting in a retro style in San Francisco and San Jose and we're looking for additional Vespa riders to appear in the video. I'd be very grateful if you could mention it to anyone who might be interested. We're looking for people aged 18-35.

If you are a local San Jose/ San Francisco scooterist who is interested, email me and I can put you in contact with them.

Mercy Me & Audio Adrenaline Scooter Video

On the Mercy Me band blog, they recently posted a fun video of the bands (Mercy Me & Audio Adrenaline) riding scooters on one of their breaks in the midst of touring. It's fun to watch and makes you want to get on your scooter and go. If you are a fan of the bands, pick up our article in issue # 40 (Summer 07).

PEEPS film contest

This is such a cute idea! The contest is hosted with Urban Outfitters, so I expect some creative entries. I hope some of our scooter-folks will step-up with some scooter-themed video. Maybe "Roman Holiday" with PEEPS as characters?

New Gwen Stefani Video with Scooters

name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CvVuRQRuKz4" />

All-around likable performer, Gwen Stefani, had included some scooters in her new video, "Now That You Got It" which features Damian Marley. The Jamaican theme has Stefani and her crew racing around the island on scooters. It makes me think about the olden days when No Doubt was playing scooter rallies.

Scooter Movies

I've beeen playing with the idea of adding a feature to the Scoot! website that lists films that contain scooters. For a few years, I've kept a spreadsheet on my computer that listed films that I've seen. G'head and call me a scooter nerd...

I've also been amassing any VHS and DVDs that have scooters in them for movie nights. These care TV commercials, TV shows, music videos etc.

Does anyone find this an intersting enterprise? I think it would be a cool resource, but I'mnot sure how many people would actually get a kick out of it.

If you think you'd use such a sthing, let me know. Also, if you know of any unusual films or bits of video, lemme know. An up front qualifier: No Quadrophenia! (Isn't everyone sick of that one already?), no Lambretta Twist or Adidas soccer commercials. I've got those! :) Also, no You Tube links unless you know that they are source materials.

You've got your mission... ;)
