Stolen Truck!

 Bill Luinetti's support truck was stolen in Grand Forks, BC, Canada. Bummer. So much for those friendly Canadians! [jk] not only was it his vehicle, and a support truck for him and Starr Markham, it was how his son followed the trip. A sh*tty situation all around. Best of luck recovering the truck!

More Cannoball Run...

This article on Cannonball Run participant David Bednarski discusses this year's trip which he will do to raise awareness for Cold Nose Lodge, a canine daycare/boarding/rescue center.
This is David's second Cannonball. He finished the 2008 Run.

Starting Today: Cannonball Run

The 2010 Scooter Cannonball begins on September 9th! Pistol Pete, who freelances for Scoot!, is participating. Check out his blog and look for some great pics in a future issue. The route goes from Vancouver B.C. to Portland, Maine, and should be a great route along the upper part of the U.S.

Our pal, Bagel (a funny story on how he got that name. Ask me sometime!) is posting updates on his blog: Bagel's Scooter Blog. So, follow on the fun!

Cannonball Run Reg is Open

Scooter Cannonball Registration is now open. If you are considering entering to do the ride, got to the website and look over the registration requirements. Deadline is July 31st.

Vancouver, BC to Portland, ME - 3270 miles
13 states, 3 border crossings

ROUTE MAP

Day 1: Vancouver, BC to Grand Forks - 325 mi
Day 2: Grand Forks to West Glacier - 331 mi
Day 3: West Glacier to Lewistown - 314 mi
Day 4: Lewistown to Bowman - 347 mi
Day 5: Bowman to Ortonville - 369 mi
Day 6: Ortonville to Ironwood - 362 mi
Day 7: Ironwood to Sault Ste. Marie - 311 mi
Day 8: Sault Ste. Marie to North Bay - 270 mi
Day 9: North Bay to Lake Placid, NY - 365 mi
Day 10: Lake Placid, NY to Portland, ME - 276 mi

This year it is the high route, with crossing into Canada!

Cannonball Update....

Looking for an update to the Cannonball Run? You can see the results thus far here. According to Mike Bobadilla (Vespa Club Los Gatos), Sunday was brutal:

Bad day on CBR...Jess crashed. Rich crashed. Marcocet crashed.
Biohazard crashed. Jim T crashed. Jim T broke ribs and collarbone.
40 miles of bad road on gravel and dirt. Jim T was the only serious
injury, but this CBR is racking them up.

Scoot! to Sponsor Rider in the Cannonball Run

Our long-time friends, Pete, will be riding in the Cannonball Run this month on Scoot!'s SYM HD200. I've known Pete since I got involved in scooting in the mid 90s and he is a talented rider, great photographer and really embodies the spirit of scooting. He has written several articles for scoot and contributed lots of photos. When I first met him, he had a red P200, similar to mine, and he wore a helmet with a mounting bracket for his video camera.

Pete will be documenting his trip on his blog. The race begins on Sept. 11, so check back after then for more updates. For now, he and Scoot! are trying to secure him more sponsors for necessary things he'll need.

This should end up being another great article for an upcoming issue of Scoot! so keep an eye out for it.

Cannonball Run 2008: Starts 9/11/08

This year's Cannonball Run starts on Sept. 11 at San Francisco's Ocean Beach and ends up at Ocean City, Maryland. There are nearly 30 people competing this year. I was glad to see it is not all twist-n-gos this year. I was worried that the manual shifts would give way.

We're in the midst of finalizing our sponsorship plan for the event. I'll post what we're doing when it is ready. I wish I could drive a support vehicle on the event, but my schedule once again won't capacitate it.
