Paul Frank Scooter Swag

If you read the print version of Scoot! you may recall seeing an ad for Paul Frank stationery items. I interviewed the actual Paul Frank (before his namesake company dismissed him) waaay back in Scoot! issue # 19 (we're on 58, now!) and he was pleasant and charming. He said that while he had never owned a scooter, he admired the SoCal kids that rode them and he used the motif in his artwork. Paul Frank Industries continues to periodically use scooters. Here are some current offerings.

CLOTHING
Sheriff Julius T-Shirt (Toddler)

Julius is a cool motocop on his P series-style scooter. Thanks to Gretchen & Desmond for alerting me to this cool shirt they got at Target. Just $8.99. You can buy two for that price, so when your kids stains it, you have another.

Julius Scooters Knit Boxer Brief

While some guys may prefer crisp, broadcloth boxers, these soft knit Y-front style boxers may change their minds when they see the cool Julius scooter on them. $18 at the Official Paul Frank store, alas they only have Small.

Scooter Love Women's T-Shirt
Available at the Official Paul Frank Store for $22 in sizes XS-L.

    Miss Armadillo Wear?

Were you one of the folks considering buying an Armadillo Scooter Wear jacket, but heard that they were no longer distributed here? While plenty of dealers still have stock (I recently saw some at Nichols Motorsport in Fremont, CA) there is a new distributor: Martin Racing Performance in Miami. You probably know MRP from their ads in Scoot! or through their videos and online news. They are a one-stop shop for dealers who want to carry a wide array of performance parts for scooters and ATVs. They are not taking over the distribution of Armadillo Scooter Wear as you can read here. MRP is a wholesaler, so they do not sell directly to consumers. But you can find a list of dealers at the company's website.

NEW Scoot! Track Jackets Are Here!

The new Scoot! Track Jackets have arrived. Josh just picked them up and is putting them into our order system. They are pretty nifty: black with contrasting white zipper, piping and tri-stripes down the sleeves. These are totally custom, not an existing jacket with a logo slapped on it.  We have unisex sizes S-2XL.  Expect to see these at scooter shops and rallies this Spring.  A super-steal for just $40.  Place our order, now!

    Spotted in Bloomingdales...

A confidential informer spotted this cool scooter shirt in Bloomies. No other info such as price, but maybe some enterprising scooteristi out there will want to do some recon work and report back.

    Your anonymity will be ensured!

    Cool Paul Frank items

I was just cruisin' the Paul Frank Industries site and found a few items that have scooters. First was a cartoon that you can watch online called , Going Twice where Julius rides a scooter. Access it at the Paul Frank site, under characters ->cartoons.

For purchasable merchandise, you can get a pair of girls undies with Worry Bear on them.

And a boy's tee with a scooter drawing.

    Upper Playground Ape Shirt

Upper Playground, who produces the Scooter Geek shirt listed earlier also sells a shirt with a pig riding a Vespa Ape (pronounced "ah-pay" FYI). The design incorporates the stinger end of a wasp, the top jaw of the skeleton looks like the front fender. Cool! Not sure what the pig is doing on top, but he's cute nonetheless.

The made a cute little video to go along with it, too.

Just callin' 'em like they see 'em...

Biz partner Mike forwarded this link to a funny shirt that some may find offensive, others may wear it with self-effacing pride. When I was in high school we used to sneak up to University of Santa Cruz and "geek" on their UNIX system. We used geek as a verb, you know geeking, geeked etc... SO being a scooter geek should be no skin off my nose. A fun gift for the hopeless scooter geeks.

    Urban Outfiters Scooter Tie

Not sure where it came from or where it went, but they are no longer selling this tie. Maybe it can be found at a discounter?

    GoGo13 Scooter shirt

Parker Jacobs who was a past designer for Paul Frank Industries, works on the current show Yo Gabba Gabba and is part of the ska band GoGo13 sent me a link to a cool shirt they have on the band's merch site. The caption reads "save gas" but it should also say "be cool" as everyone at your next scooter rally will want to know where you got the shirt.

Incidentally, GoGo13 is the band that did the uber-cool ska song "pick it up" for an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba where ska is used to teach kids to clean their room:

    PICK IT UP

A great way to start my morning, "pick it up, pick it up, pick it up..." I've got a terrible cold, so seeing this video "picks up" my spirits!

Scooter print boxers from The Gap

Do you remember when The Gap was indistinguishable from Miler's Outpost? Things have changed since the years when you could hear the "Fall...into...the...gap..." theme song. Nowadays The Gap is more upscale but not above a little preciousness. Check out these cool boxers which Nikki tipped me off about. I've only seen the web image, but will go out today and try to track them down. Looks like a Vespa, but the front fender seems a little Lambretta-y. Anyone got a pair and want to let us know?

Target Nick & Nora Scooter Jammy Pants

A couple of weeks ago my housemate Lori and I were in Target shopping with Sara. I was chatting with Sara while Lori looked for a new robe. She came bouncing back with these in hand. Nick & Nora now sell a pair of pajama pants that have girls with scooters on them. You can get them for a steal, $12.99 at last look. Cute for those scooter girl sleepovers or when you wanna impress your new scoooterboy boyfriend. Also would make a great gift for the cutie-pie scootergal in your life.

I thought I'd post a cute photo of one of us in the pants (I HAD to get a pair, too!) but it never materialized, so I'll cop-out and use the Target web images. Go there & order some! Oh..and 100% cotton is good during these HOT months.

    Lucky Jeans Scooter Shirt

Thanks to Michelle H from Erico Motor Sports for sending me the link to his cute scooter shirt from Lucky Brand. The shirt is cotton and sells for $38.
    Buy the shirt from Lucky.

Here's a detail of the scooter, which has a Lucky emblem instead of a Vespa badge.
